Winter Study Abroad Opportunities


HKUST's partner institutions as well as other universities offer a range of winter programs. Students can directly apply for these programs with the host institution. Eligible students can consider to apply for funding through HKUST Short-Term Study Abroad Allowance, Non-Means-Tested SSEBR, SSE or SSEBR to support your program participation, click on the links on the right for details and eligibility requirements.

      Tallinn Winter School, organised since 2010, is a 3-week programme in January, which includes language courses and creative workshops and provides a fascinating cultural programme. Tallinn Winter School has a casual and relaxed atmosphere, yet still maintains a scholastic approach, as well as acceptance of a wide diversity of opinions.

    Korea University International Winter Campus (KU IWC) provides an excellent opportunity for students to learn about Korea through academic and cultural immersion during the winter months. Students can take either 3-week or 4-week program.
    In the 3-week program, students can take up to 2 courses each worth 3 credits. A one-week culture schedule (not-for-credit) is designed for 3-week program students who wish to extend their stay in Korea and participate exclusive one-day Korean culture seminars and various activities.

    Winter Abroad at Yonsei is composed of two separate sessions. Session 1 will be comprised of various major courses and Korean language course. Session 2 will be comprised of Korean language courses provided by Korean Language Institute and Special lecture (Learning Korean with K-pop, K-drama) hosted by the Office of International Affairs. Yonsei University offers this unique Session 1 (3-week) and Session 2 (2-week) at its main Sinchon campus in Seoul for international students who would like to enjoy the winter in Seoul.
    During the weekends, students can enjoy Korean winter activities. It is an excellent opportunity for students to catch up on their academic studies, meet professors in an intimate setting, and enjoy the companionship of students from all over the world.
