Students can apply for these programs with the host institution directly with a registration with GSPO. Students can apply for funding through the HKUST Short-Term Study Abroad Allowance.  Local students on government TSFS means-tested grant/loan can apply for the SSE/SSEBR to support your program participation. The four week program offers high level European Studies courses (taught in English) in the morning and German language courses in the afternoon. By the end of their summer experience, students are expected to acquire knowledge and skills for conducting research.     Capstone module: Students would read the module ‘Field Studies in Biodiversity’ which would include a 1-week field trip to the tropical island, Pulau Tioman, off East coast of Peninsular Malaysia where they would expect to experience unique tropical ecosystems such as rainforest, freshwater stream, mangroves and the coral reefs under the guidance of experienced field biologists.

    Learn another language: Students would take introductory courses in either Chinese or Indonesian language (which are amongst the top 14 languages spoken in the world).To learn a new language in 5 weeks, students would need to be prepared to invest time and effort (3-4 hours of classes daily, 5 days a week).

    Immerse in the culture of Singapore: Beyond studies, weekly trips and tours around our unique island “Singapore” would be organized for students to experience the fascinating culture, cuisine and sights of Singapore.     The Zurich Biology Undergraduate Summer School (BUSS) gives undergraduate students in the Life Sciences the chance to perform a significant research project in one of the participating laboratories of the University of Zurich or the ETH Zurich. The BUSS is taught in English. Participation is open to all students during their Bachelor (BSc) studies. Besides the scientific and educational curricula, BUSS features an all inclusive three days retreat on the Swiss countryside, visits to Swiss research and science institutions, as well as a kick-off and closing event.

    The program accepts approximately 15-25 students to the program each summer. Students perform a research project in one of the research groups, under the guidance of the group leader, a postdoc, or a graduate student. Students participate in weekly research seminars, mentored journal clubs and tutorials.
